Community Outreach

Our congregation is all about service. We serve God by serving others in our church family as well as the surrounding community. The Center for Spiritual Discovery recognizes the need in this area and strives to be a part of the solution. Think globally and act locally is something we aspire to everyday.

Below are just some of the ways we offer to be in selfless service to others. If you would like to join us in sharing your talents in any of these programs please contact the Center office at 714-754-7399. We will be happy to assist you in finding just the right place for your special talents that might include...

• Visiting those who may be unable to get out due to disability or recovery from illness.
• Assisting in community service with our Repair and Maintenance team.
• Providing transportation to doctor's visits
• Delivering food to those who are in crisis due to illness or a death in the family.
• Cooking — prepare a casserole or meal for those who've temporarily cannot cook for themselves.
• Visiting the elderly in nursing homes.
• Planting trees, clean up the community and assistant in beautification projects.
• Providing scholarships for retreats and continuing education.
• Assisting in providing for families in need of food for distribution to the needy.
• Being a smiling face and a friend that shows someone cares

We Need Your Help!

We are seeking some volunteer help for some of our on going tasks as well as for some one time big event assistance. If you can give one day, once a month we have the following opportunities: One Friday per month helping us fold and stuff programs and brochures; one Sunday per month helping set up or tear down the tables, or to serve as an usher or love ambassadors.

Sunday September 28 is the People Helping People Festival we need many hands on the day of the event.

Holiday Gift Basket Auction is looking for "crafty", "artsy" people to help assemble gift baskets early November.

Food Bank Needs Food

The South Orange County Food Bank is in critical need of food. A week ago they shut there doors for a few days because they were out of food. If you can help with canned and boxed goods donations, please bring them to service next Sunday, or if you can, please bring them to the Center office. Orange County Child Abuse Prevention Center Needs Car Seats

Our own Bridget Walin is assisting in collecting new car seats and booster seats for her social workers. These seats are needed as part of a monitored visitation program for the kids. A social worker must transport the child and they need these seats to do it. Unfortunately state law will not let them use previously used seats. The seats must be brand new.
